Rules for Your 2009 Gratitude List

Just a pencil
Just a pencil

Rule #1 – there are no rules!

When you sit down and write (or type) your gratitude list, do not create rules for yourself!

Just start writing whatever comes up for you.  Just because you did not mention God first in your list does not mean that He is not the most important thing in your life.  Or maybe you didn’t put down your family first on your list that does not mean that you don’t love them.  Sometimes you have to clear what you are present to so you get to the really “good” stuff or maybe what comes up first IS the “good” stuff – just go for it!

Don’t make rules, remember, “nothing means anything unless we make it mean something.”  I learned this phrase in my miracles coaching sessions and it makes a whole lot of sense.  So if food comes up on the top of your list, does that mean that you have a problem with food? Or if you are grateful for a glass of wine, does that make you an alcoholic? Or how about a pencil, maybe a pencil showed up on your list, does that mean that you like to write with pencils, maybe!

I remember hearing Joe Vitale (maybe in a book or on a CD) say that at one point in his life that the only thing he could think of to be grateful for was a pencil.  WOW, my list seems to include much more than a PENCIL, but that is where I am today.  That might not be where you are, so if all you have to be grateful for is a pencil, write that down ad go from there.  Look where Joe is today – being grateful for that pencil seemed to be a great start for things to turn around for him.

If you don’t know the story, go to www.mrfire.com and check out Joe Vitale’s story.  He was once homeless and today is probably a billionaire, although I don’t think he advertises that.  I did hear him say once that he was shooting for being the first trillionaire.  It all starts with gratitude, being grateful with where you are right this minute.  So write your list and see what comes up for you…

Blessings to you and remember:

I love you and that it just it!

  1. Kim, that is beautiful!

And so true. Don’t let “the rules”
or your “expectations of what’s expected”
interfere with ANY list you write-
    Goals…
    Gratitudes…
    Tasks…

Let it flow… let it come without
any agenda and then take a look and
    prioritize or systemize or whatever-

Just don’t muck up the process of getting it out!

Thanks for this reminder as we set our
sights on a new year and a new time to
    shine, define, and refine!

    Know this:

I love you and that is all there is to it!
